The fatal incident took place around 12:45 p.m. inside an apartment on the 2300 block of Jefferson Street Northeast. An adult inside the home made the emergency call, reporting that the child had been shot. When police arrived, they found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
