ST. LOUIS, MO – A 4-year-old child was shot and killed late Monday at a St. Louis, Missouri, home where no adults were present watching four children under the age of 10, police said.
The St. Louis Police Department said officers responded at around midnight to a report of a shooting involving a child at a residence on the 700 block of Thrush Avenue. Officers arrived to find a 4-year-old had been shot and was “barely breathing.”

Officers rendered aid while transporting the child in a patrol SUV to a local hospital. The child later died at the hospital, police said.
Per reports, it was a child who called 911 to report the shooting. Detectives at the scene found there were four children under the age of. 10 at the house at the time of the shooting, and no adults were present.
Per reports, the deceased child’s mother came to the hospital. It’s unclear whether or how the children in the home were related. Investigators were still working to determine who was responsible for watching the children.
