Lakewood, Ohio – Meet Jimmy Sinatra, an 81-year-old resident of Lakewood, Ohio, who has been on a mission for over two decades – clearing snow from neighborhood sidewalks. But it’s not just about snow; it’s about spreading warmth and kindness in his community.
Jimmy’s love affair with snow began long ago, and when he purchased his Lakewood-area home in 1995, he decided to put his small snowblower to good use. Little did he know that this act of kindness would snowball into something bigger.
Today, Jimmy clears an impressive 34 sidewalks, stretching all the way from the corner of Woodward Avenue to Delaware Avenue. Remarkably, he doesn’t accept any cash donations; he does it simply because he enjoys helping his neighbors.
“I enjoy it! I’ve always liked snow and helping people,” Jimmy enthusiastically shares. But his favorite ‘thank you’ comes in the form of home-cooked meals from grateful neighbors during the holidays.
Colin McKay, who resides just across the street from Jimmy, holds Jimmy in high regard as a remarkable neighbor. According to McKay, it’s truly delightful to see Jimmy braving the cold weather to clear the sidewalks. Having someone like Jimmy as a neighbor, who watches out for everyone, is a great blessing, he notes.
Despite facing some health challenges in his advanced years, Jimmy continues to show unwavering determination. Whenever snow blankets the neighborhood, you’ll find him diligently clearing the sidewalks. He expresses that this activity gives him a sense of purpose and something to anticipate. At 81, he has no intention of idly sitting in a rocking chair for the foreseeable future; his goal is to stay active and engaged.

Jimmy’s determination knows no bounds. He recalls the biggest snowfall he tackled was on Valentine’s Day in 2014 when the snow reached up to his knees. And when there’s no snow to clear, you can find him staying active by doing yard work for himself and the church.
