Cedar Rapids, Iowa – In response to severe weather, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for six counties, offering much-needed relief aid to affected residents.

Governor Reynolds’ proclamation targets areas hit hard by Friday’s storms, specifically Allamakee, Cass, Des Moines, Fayette, Henry, and Lee counties. This move unlocks crucial state resources and provides up to $5,000 in relief grants for households earning up to 200% of the poverty level.

How to Apply

If you or someone you know has been impacted by these storms, it’s important to act quickly. Applications for disaster relief grants can be submitted on the state’s website (find the site here – then search “disaster relief”), but time is of the essence, as victims have just 45 days to apply.
