You Won’t Believe Which Airline Tops List Of Most Delayed And Canceled Flights!
Headed on a trip? Find out which U.S. airlines are most likely to leave you stranded at the airport (and how to avoid it!) 🛫 #TravelTips #FlySmarter #AirportAdventures
MSP International Airport, Minnesota – If you’ve ever been stuck at the airport waiting for a delayed flight, you know how frustrating it can be. Well, it turns out that some airlines are more likely to leave you hanging than others. A new study from NerdWallet found that Frontier Airlines had the most delayed flights in the United States last year, with over 30% of their flights facing some kind of holdup. JetBlue and Spirit Airlines weren’t far behind, with around 30% and 28% of their flights delayed, respectively.
🛬 Grounded Plans
But delays aren’t the only problem. Frontier also had the highest percentage of canceled flights in the country, with over 2% of their flights never even taking off. JetBlue and Spirit were the runners-up in this category too. So if you’re looking to avoid having your travel plans completely derailed, you might want to steer clear of these airlines.
😊 Delta Leads the Pack
On the bright side, Delta Air Lines had the best on-time record among major U.S. carriers, with more than 82% of their flights leaving when they were supposed to. They also had a relatively low delay rate of around 16% and a cancellation rate of just 1%. So if punctuality is your top priority, Delta might be your best bet.
🏅 Alaska’s Winning Streak
When it comes to actually getting off the ground, Alaska Airlines takes the cake. They had the lowest cancellation rate in the country, with less than 1% of their flights being canceled. That’s pretty impressive, considering all the things that can go wrong with air travel.
🕰️ Early Bird Gets the Worm
So how can you improve your chances of an on-time arrival? The single best thing you can do is book the earliest flight of the day. That’s because the most common cause of delays this year has been planes arriving late from their previous destinations. By getting on the first flight out, you can avoid that domino effect.
🎯 Aim for Directness
Another tip is to book direct flights whenever possible. The more connections you have, the more chances there are for something to go wrong. And if you do have to connect, try to choose an airline that has multiple flights to your destination each day. That way, if you miss your first flight, you’ve got a backup plan.
📱 Stay in the Know
Of course, even the best-laid plans can go awry. But did you know that you can actually find out if your flight is likely to be delayed before you even leave for the airport? It’s true! Most airlines have apps or websites where you can check your flight status ahead of time. That way, you can mentally prepare yourself for any travel snags and pack some extra snacks and entertainment to make the wait a little more bearable.
🎉 Happy Travels!
At the end of the day, delays and cancellations are just a part of the wild and wacky world of air travel. But by choosing the right airline, booking strategically, and staying informed, you can minimize the chances of your trip going off the rails. So pack your bags, grab your boarding pass, and get ready for an adventure – just remember to bring your patience along for the ride! 😄✈️ Happy travels.
