Shocking News: Iconic American Queen Voyages Shuts Down Operations!

Big shock in the travel world: American Queen Voyages has suddenly stopped all operations! Find out what this means for your next river cruise. #travelnews #AmericanQueenVoyages

Winona, Minnesota – In a surprising turn of events, American Queen Voyages has stopped all its operations. On February 20, the company quietly announced that it would shut down by 5 p.m. due to unexpected challenges and a shortage of funds. This decision means that all employees will lose their jobs permanently.

The company had already canceled its February cruises, and there were signs of trouble. Travel agencies had stopped selling American Queen trips, and passengers had complained about service issues and delays in getting refunds. Despite these problems, the company had promised to start cruising again in March.

But now, the Hornblower Group, the parent company of American Queen Voyages, is looking for a new owner for the cruise line. They said that the impact of recent global events was too much to handle financially. They’re grateful for their employees, guests, and partners, but they have to sell the company or shut it down.

Hornblower Group is also being bought by Strategic Value Partners, LLC, and is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They hope to finish this process in about four months.

For those who had booked cruises with American Queen Voyages, there’s a website where they can ask for a refund. But it’s a bit complicated. First, they have to file a claim, then they’ll get a notice saying refunds won’t be given because of the Chapter 11 filing. After that, they can contact Argo Surety, which insured the trips, for more help.

This closure is a big deal, especially for towns like Winona, Minnesota – where we live. Last summer, the American Queen docked multiple times, bringing lots of tourists to the city.
