BUCHANAN, GA – She was entrusted with managing the finances of a small-town police department, a role meant to support local officers and ensure public funds were handled with care.
But now, a former Buchanan Police Department clerk stands accused of betraying that trust, allegedly pocketing a large sum of money from the department’s citation account in a case that has left the community stunned.
Ongoing Investigation Reveals Missing Funds
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in on July 16 by Haralson County District Attorney Jack Browning to investigate the disappearance of funds from the police department.
It was discovered that a large sum of money had gone missing from the department’s citation account, leading authorities to focus on a specific individual with access to the funds.
Former Clerk Faces Multiple Charges
Anna Megan Brock, 33, the former chief clerk of the Buchanan Police Department, was identified as a suspect in the case.
On August 29, she was taken into custody and charged with theft by conversion, along with false statements and several other charges related to falsifying records and documents.
Brock was booked into the Haralson County Jail but was later released after posting a $1,000 bond. The GBI has confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to probe into the extent of the missing funds and the details surrounding the case.
