GUNGAHLIN, AUSTRALIA – Authorities in Australia this week released CCTV footage of an arsonist setting themselves on fire while trying to burn down a barber shop.

Australian Federal Police for the Australian Capital Territory on Monday released a video showing the “targeted arson attack” at the Gold Blade barber shop on Hibberson Street, Gungahlin, at around 11:40 p.m. on July 6.

One of the two suspects can be seen using a hammer to break the glass door of the shop. The second suspect then enters through the broken door with a red gas can. Both suspects have their faces covered by what appear to be motorcycle helmets.

The suspect with the gas can douses the barber shop with the accelerant, splashing it all over themself in the process. When the suspect ignites a cloth stuffed into the canister, a huge burst of flame engulfs them.

The suspect escapes the shop and rolls on the ground outside, eventually extinguishing the flames with the help of the other suspect. Both suspects fled the scene on bicycles.

Police are asking anyone with information about the identities of the suspects or about the incident to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
