McGREGOR, MN – The sounds of rustling leaves and distant calls from search teams fill the thick, quiet woods. The scent of damp earth lingers as crews scour the vast expanse of Minnesota‘s Savanna Portage State Park. Six days have passed since 23-year-old Tonya disappeared during a family outing, and each passing hour adds to the mounting tension.

Tonya, who is autistic and has Type 1 Diabetes, was last seen on Wednesday, September 4th, near a fishing dock. She had been with her family when, without warning, she got up and ran.

Panic quickly set in as her family realized she had vanished. Despite their immediate search efforts, Tonya was nowhere to be found.

The Search Effort So Far

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office was soon called in, and the search has since expanded to include multiple law enforcement agencies. Over 400 hours have been logged, but there’s still no sign of Tonya. Her family and authorities are growing increasingly concerned, given her vulnerabilities.

At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a rainbow tie-dye shirt, gym shorts, black shoes, and black headphones.

Search crews are working tirelessly, but the dense forest and challenging terrain make the task difficult. As the hours stretch into days, they remain hopeful but realistic about the challenges they face.
