BROWNS VALLEY, MN – A 17-year-old boy has died following a stabbing at an apartment complex in Browns Valley, a small town on the border between Minnesota and South Dakota.
The Traverse County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 2:18 a.m. on Friday at the Valley View Apartments.
When authorities arrived, they found Andre Kampeska, a local resident, unresponsive in the hallway with a stab wound to his chest.
Kampeska was rushed to Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead within the hour.
Another teenage boy was taken into custody at the scene. He is currently being held at the West Central Regional Detention Center in Moorhead, facing potential charges of 2nd-degree murder and 1st-degree manslaughter.
Authorities are expected to release more information if charges are formally filed against the suspect.
