LOS ANGELES, CA â A respected California doctor was shot and killed outside his Los Angeles clinic, in a horrifying ambush that has left the community stunned. Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, 61, a well-known physician in Woodland Hills, was fatally gunned down just months after surviving a vicious attack with baseball bats.
The shooting took place at around 5:30 p.m. Friday outside the Woodland Hills Medical Clinic, where Dr. Mirshojae practiced. According to law enforcement, the doctor was walking to his white SUV when he was ambushed in the clinic’s parking lot.
Los Angeles police officers arrived at the scene over 40 minutes later to find the physician with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite paramedics’ efforts, Mirshojae was pronounced dead on-site.
Witnesses described the chaotic scene as bystanders rushed to offer help before authorities arrived. Several bullet casings were found near the doctorâs body. The gunman fled on foot and has yet to be identified.
Police have not revealed any information regarding a possible motive or suspect in the slaying, but sources say the investigation is ramping up.
This brutal shooting comes just months after Dr. Mirshojae was violently attacked by a group of men armed with baseball bats. In that earlier incident, the doctor sustained serious injuries but eventually recovered. It remains unclear if the two attacks are connected.
Known for his dedication to his patients, Dr. Mirshojae served a wide variety of clients, including Hollywood celebrities and professional athletes. He specialized in primary care and addiction medicine, earning a reputation for his compassionate approach and tireless work ethic.
The physicianâs family is reeling from the loss. At the time of the shooting, Mirshojaeâs wife and infant daughter were out of the country visiting relatives in Turkey. The doctor also leaves behind three adult children from a previous marriage, who are now mourning their father.
As the investigation continues, local residents and patients have gathered outside the clinic to pay their respects, leaving flowers and messages of condolences.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they search for leads in this tragic killing that has shaken the Woodland Hills community.
