CASS LAKE, MN – A Cass Lake, Minnesota man, 48, is facing charges after admitting to strangling his brother in an incident early Monday morning. According to authorities, two people witnessed the attack and attempted to intervene.

Arthur James Jones has been charged in Beltrami County District Court with second-degree murder, accused of killing his brother during a domestic assault.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies, along with Leech Lake Police officers, responded to a 911 call at a home in Ten Lakes Township around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.

When officers arrived, they found Jones holding his brother in a chokehold. Despite repeated commands to release the victim, Jones refused, even after officers used a Taser on him.

Jones allegedly told the officers, “he’s already dead,” before they physically removed him.

The victim was found unresponsive and, despite efforts to revive him, was pronounced dead at the hospital. A preliminary autopsy revealed multiple injuries, including hemorrhaging and broken teeth.

Witnesses at the scene told police they heard a commotion and found Jones with his arm around his brother’s neck.
