Chicago’s Cool Pants Challenge Takes Over the Windy City!
Chicagoans are turning freezing temps into frosty fashion with the #CoolPantsChallenge! Read all about it in our latest article! ❄️👖
Chicago, Illinois – Hey there, winter enthusiasts! It’s no secret that Chicago can get seriously chilly, especially in 2024. But you won’t believe what folks in Illinois are up to in the midst of this Arctic blast. They’re freezing their pants off and having a blast doing it!
While some are cozying up indoors during this bone-chilling cold spell, others are embracing the frosty fun. Forget about jumping into the lake or tossing boiling water in the air (although those are pretty cool too), because the latest trend is all about experimenting with pants!
Imagine this: Chicago is colder than Alaska, and that’s saying something! So, what do you do when it’s -11 degrees outside? Well, one local TikTok user had the answer. She froze a pair of jeans right in her front yard and then flung them into the air, sticking the landing back in the snow. Her caption? “When it’s -11 in Chicago.” The video has already gathered almost 2 million views, and others are joining in on the chilly fun.
Last week’s snowstorm left a lingering “conveyor belt of cold,” plunging temperatures below zero and covering the city in a thick layer of frost. Brace yourselves because Chicago isn’t expected to see temperatures above freezing for the rest of the week.

But here’s the best part – this isn’t the first time Chicagoans have showcased their frosty fashion. Back during the polar vortex of 2019, a clever West Ridge resident soaked a pair of jeans in water, let them freeze outdoors, and then proudly placed them standing stiffly in the street as his way of calling “dibs.” Pants sure have a way of bringing out the humor in us!
So, Windy City residents, keep those pants freezing and your spirits high. Chicago’s winter adventures are just getting started! ❄️👖🌬️ #CoolPantsChallenge #ChiberiaFun
