Winona, MN – Today we travel overseas from our home in the Midwest, to the quaint town of Toton in the UK. This is a feel-good story that is sure to bring a smile to your face as you read about the furry mystery which unfolded.
The Irons family – Tanya, Jonathan, and their little daughter Elizabeth – faced a puzzling situation when Clive, their adventurous Norwegian Forest cat, vanished one chilly December evening in 2014.
The Irons searched every corner for 14 months. They turned to Facebook and plastered posters all over the neighborhood, hoping for Clive’s return. This lively nine-month-old kitten was known for his playful pranks, but his long absence left the family disheartened.
Little did they know, Clive was having the time of his life just two miles away! He’d stumbled upon the Kennelgate Pet Superstores warehouse – a sprawling 20,000-square-foot playground filled with every cat’s dream: endless pet food. This became Clive’s secret dining hall.
The warehouse staff were baffled by the disappearing food and the occasional glimpse of a cat. They set a trap with a trail of treats leading to a basket. On a typical Tuesday, Clive walked right into it, revealing himself as the plump culprit.
Diane Gaskill, the determined production supervisor, played a key role in capturing Clive. Thanks to her efforts and Clive’s microchip, the Irons family had a heartwarming reunion with their much-missed pet.

Clive’s homecoming was quite a surprise. He’d transformed from a lean kitten to a well-fed cat, much to Tanya’s astonishment. Reintroducing him to his cat brothers, George and Leon, took some time, but the family’s love for Clive was as strong as ever.
The Irons family was delighted that Clive’s adventurous personality hadn’t changed a bit – they simply had a little more of him to love. They decided their playful cat wouldn’t be going on a diet anytime soon – he seemed happier at this new weight.
