Colorado Driver Follows GPS Without Question—Gets Car Stuck at Bottom of Ski Run
A Colorado skier’s GPS fail leaves his car stuck at the bottom of a ski run—talk about taking a wrong turn on the slopes! 🌐 #News #KeystoneCO #Colorado #Accident
KEYSTONE, CO – A driver’s reliance on GPS led to an unexpected and somewhat amusing situation at Keystone Resort in Colorado. The driver found himself stuck at the bottom of a ski run after following Siri’s directions, leaving his car stranded in a spot no one expects to see a vehicle—let alone one in need of a tow.
The Incident at Keystone Resort
The unusual mishap occurred at Keystone Resort, a popular ski destination located about an hour outside Denver. The driver, following directions from his GPS, ended up with his Audi hatchback buried in snow at the bottom of the Schoomarm ski run.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of the vehicle on social media, adding a touch of humor with their post. “Not our everyday illegal parking call,” the office wrote in the caption.
The Driver’s Actions and Response
The incident took place on a Monday night, when the driver, unable to get his car out, had to leave it behind with a note on the windshield explaining the situation. The next morning, after heading out to ski, the driver continued his day while someone else called the sheriff’s office.
Since the car wasn’t abandoned on an actual road, no citation was issued. The sheriff’s office explained that no violation occurred because the vehicle wasn’t blocking traffic.
The Community Reaction
A video posted to Reddit shows a group of people gathered around the car the following morning. In the clip, the driver shares that he had called for a tow but was told that a “regular tow truck” couldn’t reach the car.
Some people watching suggested calling Mountain Recovery, a service known for handling difficult-to-reach situations with larger vehicles.
In the video, the driver admitted that his GPS led him astray. “I’m the Jerry of the day, I guess,” he said, referring to his mishap.
What started as a frustrating situation ended up with a lighthearted twist, leaving the authorities amused. As the driver found out, even Siri can get things wrong, especially when navigating unfamiliar terrain.
