NORWICH, CT – Authorities in Connecticut were shocked when a car zoomed past them at an alarming speed in the early hours of Sunday. State police said a trooper monitoring traffic on Interstate 395 southbound, near exit 11 in Norwich, clocked a Kia sedan flying down the road at over 130 mph shortly before 1 a.m.
The pursuit was swift. The trooper quickly caught up with the vehicle and ordered the driver to pull over. What followed next was an unexpected twist.
The Unusual Explanation
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Logan Mirmozaffari, allegedly offered a peculiar excuse when asked why he was speeding.
According to police, Mirmozaffari told the trooper he was racing home to “see his cat.”
But the story didn’t end there.
Signs of Trouble
As the trooper continued speaking with Mirmozaffari, things took a more serious turn. The officer allegedly detected several signs of impairment, including the smell of alcohol, glossy eyes, and slurred speech.
When asked to perform a field sobriety test, Mirmozaffari agreed but allegedly failed the test.
Arrest and Charges
Mirmozaffari was arrested and charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was later released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on February 6.
The night may have started with a simple mission to reunite with his cat, but it ended in handcuffs—and an upcoming court date.
