The New Haven Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 6:57 p.m. on October 6, after receiving reports of a vehicle colliding with the porch of a house near the intersection of Goodyear Street and West Read Street. When officers arrived, they found the driver critically injured, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where his condition was described as life-threatening but stable, according to a statement released by authorities the following Monday.
