Cuban Spice With A Slice Of Minnesota Nice
My hubby Jack and I lived in the Kingfield Neighborhood of Minneapolis before we moved to Winona, and we loved dining here.
This unique spot started as a Shell gas station in the 1920s, transformed into a Dairy Queen, and then became Rick’s Ol’ Time Café. In 1999, Niki Stavrou took over and introduced delicious Cuban flavors to the neighborhood.
Fieri: “As Legit As They Come”
Victor’s 1959 Cafe gained fame even before appearing on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.” The Food Network showcased their popular breakfast on the “Best Of” Breakfast Spots show. When Guy Fieri visited in 2008, he was blown away by their authentic Cuban dishes, especially the Cuban sandwich, calling it “as legit as they come.”
This cozy cafe is more than just a restaurant; it’s a little piece of Cuba in south Minneapolis. With traditional Cuban recipes, festive decor, and a friendly atmosphere, it’s the perfect escape from everyday life. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., you can enjoy breakfast and lunch with a Cuban twist.
