Kansas City, Kansas – In an unexpected turn of events, a Kansas City dad became a hero when his wife suddenly went into labor on the side of a road.
The early hours of February 27th turned into a memorable moment for the Redenbaugh family when Riley Redenbaugh had to step in as an impromptu midwife.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the scene on 169 Highway and 255th Street, where they found Riley just after he had delivered his baby. The body camera footage showed a proud and relieved father offering a fist bump to the officers, who had provided crucial life-saving instructions to the couple before medical help arrived.
Wrapped in Riley’s red T-shirt, the newborn was safe and sound as EMS and fire crews took over the care of mother and baby.
The sheriff’s office later shared the good news on Facebook, announcing that both Danielle, the mother, and the baby were doing great. The Redenbaugh family’s unexpected roadside delivery has become a heartwarming story of bravery and quick thinking.
