North Dakota Named WORST in the US!

FARGO, ND – Get ready to clutch your steering wheel a little tighter if you’re cruising through North Dakota! The latest shocking report reveals North Dakota has the highest number of distracted drivers in the entire United States. Road-tripping just got a lot more dangerous.

Road-Tripping Dangers Uncovered

Road trips are a classic American adventure, offering the freedom to explore the vast landscapes and detour at will. But this freedom comes with a dark side: other drivers.

According to a jaw-dropping study by Auto Accident Team, released in July, North Dakota is now crowned the worst state for drivers distracted by cell phones.

Shocking Statistics

The report analyzed 2022 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and discovered that a staggering 2.61% of drivers in North Dakota involved in fatal crashes were distracted by their cell phones.

That’s one in 39 drivers, folks! This rate is more than four times the national average of 0.62%. Out of 153 drivers in fatal crashes in North Dakota, four were reported as fiddling with their phones.

The Distracted Driving Epidemic

Cell phone distractions in North Dakota are primarily due to drivers either manipulating or chatting on their phones.

Kansas isn’t far behind, with 2.6% of drivers in fatal crashes being distracted by phones, also more than four times the national average. Here, the most common distraction was “other phone-related factors,” meaning drivers were engaged with their phones but not necessarily talking or listening.

Montana, Utah, and Minnesota follow closely, making up the top five states where phone distractions are a major issue on the roads.

The Deadly Impact

The split-second attention diversion can lead to catastrophe. Driving requires constant vigilance, and even a second’s lapse can turn a routine journey into an emergency.

At 50 miles per hour, a car covers 73 feet in one second; at 30 miles per hour, it covers 44 feet. That fraction of time could mean the difference between life and death.
