ST. PAUL, MN – Stanley Black and Decker is recalling more than 55,000 DeWALT Battery Walk-Behind Mowers because they can pose laceration hazards if they get wet, according to a notice posted by the U.S. consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall involves model-year 2024 DeWALT Battery 21” Push walk-behind mowers, with model numbers DCMWP234U2 and DCMWP600X2, and DeWALT Battery 21” Self-Propelled walk-behind mowers, with model numbers DCMWSP256U2 and DCMWSP650Y2.

The recall includes approximately 46,200 mowers sold in the U.S. and approximately 9,600 sold in Canada.

In the U.S., the recalled mowers were sold at The Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware and other stores nationwide and online at homedepot.com, tractorsupply.com and acehardware.com from January 2024 through July 2024 for between $530 and $750.

If water gets into the recalled mower’s handle support while the battery is installed, the mower can fail to shut off when the bail handle is released, or start without a key, posing a laceration hazard to the user.

The company has received 10 reports of mowers failing to shut off when the bail handle is released.

The company also received one report of a mower starting without a key inserted, which resulted in a finger laceration that did not require medical attention.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers if they have gotten wet. Consumers should contact DeWALT to receive a free repair at an authorized service center.
