Sumpter, Wisconsin – Nestled just 30 minutes from Madison, Wisconsin, lies a hidden gem that’s bound to spark your curiosity. Dr. Evermore’s Forevertron stands tall as the second-largest scrap metal sculpture in the world. This colossal creation, reaching 50 feet high and 120 feet wide, and weighing a staggering 300 tons, is a sight to behold.

Constructed in the 1980s, the Forevertron is a masterpiece of recycled art, incorporating elements like Thomas Edison dynamos from the 1880s, high-voltage components from 1920s power plants, and even a piece of history with the decontamination chamber from the Apollo 11 spacecraft. All these components come together to form a unique and intriguing sculpture in the heart of this small Wisconsin town.

The brain behind this incredible structure was Tom Every, a demolition expert with a passion for preserving antique machinery. He envisioned Dr. Evermor as a Victorian inventor, crafting the Forevertron to launch himself into the heavens on a magnetic lightning force beam. The sculpture is designed to be movable, built in sections connected by bolts and pins, showcasing Every’s ingenuity.

But the Forevertron isn’t alone in its glory. The surrounding art park is home to a myriad of other sculptures, including giant insects, a celestial listening ear, and a bird band orchestra made from scrap industrial parts. Every’s creativity shines through in each piece, with a focus on maintaining the original forms of the materials as much as possible.
