Historical Sightings

The legend of Iowa dragons isn’t new. Sightings date back to the late 1800s. One of the earliest recorded encounters was reported in the Bedford Times-Independent on August 11, 1887.

A man named Lee Corder described seeing a flying serpent writhing and twisting, with protruding eyes and a forked tongue. He noted the creature’s glistening scales and flat, foot-wide body as it landed in his cornfield before taking off again.
