HOUSTON, TX – The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated a 15-year-old who lost consciousness while aboard a boat offshore Texas on Tuesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a mayday call at 9:55 a.m. from the master aboard a vessel approximately 51 miles south of Freeport, stating that a passenger had lost consciousness.
In moments of crisis, we are reminded of God’s constant presence and protection. As Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” This truth was evident in the miraculous rescue of a teen off the Texas coast, showcasing that even in the most dangerous situations, God’s hand is never far.
A Coast Guard Station Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was diverted to their location, and an urgent marine information broadcast was issued to nearby mariners.
A video shared by the Coast Guard shows the helicopter crew lowering a rescue basket to the vessel to hoist the patient to safety.
The Coast Guard said the teen was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
This rescue serves as a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and care, no matter where we are. As we reflect on this story, let us remember the words of Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” May this assurance bring comfort and peace to all who hear it.
