Winona, Minnesota – When it comes to the great pie debate, it seems like savory pies are stealing the show this year! Google’s 2024 map shows that in the month before Pi Day, more people were searching for savory pie recipes than any other type. Oklahoma, for example, was all about that Frito chili pie life. But don’t count out the sweet stuff just yet!
Custard Pies: A Springtime Sensation
Coming in hot at second place were custard pies. Folks in North Dakota and Vermont were dreaming of tangy lemon meringue, while Arkansas and Mississippi were keeping it cool with lemon icebox pie. And let’s not forget about the coconut cream pie fans in Nebraska and West Virginia!
Fruit Pies: An All-American Classic
You can’t go wrong with a classic fruit pie, and it looks like the western half of the country agrees. California, Oregon, Nevada, and Wyoming were all about that apple pie life. New Yorkers were on the hunt for the perfect raspberry pie, while Colorado was all about the blueberries.
Chocolate and Nutty Delights
While chocolate pie didn’t make the map, that doesn’t mean people weren’t craving some cocoa goodness. Ohio and Georgia were searching for Oreo pie, while Iowa was dreaming of French silk. That’s my hubby Jack’s fave. Wisconsin kept it sweet with honey pie, and Arizona was all about that fried pie life.

We couldn’t forget about those savory pies! Texas and Alaska were on the hunt for the perfect chicken pot pie, while Massachusetts was all about that shepherd’s pie life. Our home state of Minnesota kept it classic with spaghetti pie, and South Carolina and New Jersey were dreaming of tomato pie.
I’ve actually never tried spaghetti pie, but it sure sounds tasty! I personally am on a sour cream raisin pie kick right now (thanks, Iowa). Hehe.
