JACKSONVILLE, FL — A 59-year-old Florida man, Franklin Jarrell, was arrested on February 18 by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for allegedly posting violent threats against former Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on TikTok. The arrest followed an investigation sparked by a series of menacing comments laced with racist language and references to firearms.
Threats Posted on Social Media
The threats, traced to the TikTok account “dale.jarrell8,” were made in the comment sections of videos featuring Harris and in posts targeting Omar.
On February 11, Jarrell allegedly directed a comment at Harris, claiming he had obtained her address through her IP numbers and warning that she wouldn’t see him coming. Another comment aimed at Harris threatened to shoot her, stating she wouldn’t return home unless in a coffin, accompanied by racial slurs and a boast of being a “real redneck.”
In a separate post targeting Omar, Jarrell allegedly wrote about wanting to violently assault her, remove her glasses, and kill her, again using racist language and urging her to “come South.” The criminal complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court in Florida, detailed these threats, noting their explicit nature and violent intent.
FBI Investigation and Arrest
The FBI was alerted to the disturbing posts and partnered with local law enforcement to track down the source.
Investigators linked the TikTok account to an email and phone number tied to a Gmail account, identifying Jarrell as the suspect.
On February 18, a Secret Service agent reached out to Jarrell by phone to arrange an interview regarding the threats. During the call, Jarrell reportedly grew hostile, warning the agent that he would kill him if anyone came to his home.
Later that day, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office took Jarrell into custody.
He now faces charges of sending a threatening communication in interstate commerce and making threats against a federal official. According to the affidavit, Jarrell is being held on a $100,000 bond as the legal process unfolds.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
The case has drawn attention due to the high-profile nature of the targets and the severity of the threats. Jarrell’s arrest marks the culmination of swift action by federal and local authorities to address the violent rhetoric posted online.
As the investigation continues, the courts will determine the next steps in this unfolding case.
A Moment for Reflection

The threats against Kamala Harris and Ilhan Omar strike at the dignity of public figures who have faced undue hostility, and we stand in solidarity with them and all those shaken by such venomous words. Jacksonville’s residents, alongside law enforcement, have shown resolve in confronting this act, proving that a community can unite against hate.
