PALM BEACH, FL — In a stunning display of misplaced priorities, a Florida socialite reportedly struck a cyclist with her luxury SUV, dragged both victim and bicycle down the road, and proceeded directly to her scheduled golf lesson as if nothing had happened.

The High-Speed Hit

Ellen Richman, a 76-year-old Palm Beach resident, was behind the wheel of her 2017 Mercedes-Benz GL 450 when the incident occurred on March 18, 2025. At approximately 9:27 a.m., on the 700 block of Country Club Road, her vehicle allegedly collided with cyclist Justin Rogers, 62, who was traveling in the same direction.

From Collision to Country Club

Instead of stopping to assist the injured cyclist, Richman allegedly continued driving eastward, with both Rogers and his bicycle being dragged along the roadway. Her final destination? The Palm Beach Country Club, where she calmly handed her keys to a valet attendant.

A Trail of Evidence

Police officers found damning evidence at the crash site, including broken headlight glass and a front bumper retention clip that matched perfectly with missing parts from Richman’s Mercedes. The vehicle’s undercarriage also showed damage consistent with the collision.

The Aftermath

Rogers suffered severe injuries, including a compound fracture to his tibia and fibula, along with multiple lacerations and abrasions to his left leg. He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach for treatment.

The Arrest

When confronted by law enforcement, Richman allegedly claimed she thought she had merely hit debris on the road. She was subsequently arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury, a second-degree felony. She was later released on a $10,000 bond.

The case against Richman continues to move forward after a judge found probable cause. The current condition of the victim remains unknown. Richman is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
