Amid John Deere Exodus To Mexico, Ford’s $3 BILLION Truck Bet SAVES American Jobs!
As John Deere shuts down plants and moves jobs to Mexico, Ford makes a bold $3 billion bet to boost truck production and save American jobs. 🚚 #News #Michigan #Jobs
DEARBORN, MI – Good news from Michigan! Ford Motor Co. is making a bold move amid the economic turmoil and factory shutdowns. As inflation soars and financial worries loom, the automaker is investing a staggering $3 billion to ramp up production of its F-Series Super Duty trucks.
This investment promises to boost employment and deliver a ray of hope for blue-collar workers across the Midwest, especially at a time when giants like John Deere are closing plants and moving jobs to Mexico.
Big Bucks for Big Trucks
Despite operating at full capacity, Ford’s current factories can’t keep up with the overwhelming demand for their Super Duty trucks.
In response, the company plans to invest a hefty $2.3 billion into its Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario, Canada. This plant, previously known for producing the Edge SUV, will start gearing up this summer to churn out the latest generation of Super Duty trucks by 2026.
U.S. Plants Get a Boost
Ford isn’t stopping at Canada. The automaker will also funnel $24 million into its Sharonville, Ohio plant and $1 million into its Rawsonville, Michigan plant. Additionally, 50 new jobs are being created at the Sterling Axle Plant in Michigan to support this massive production surge.
In total, around 20,000 American workers across five states will be involved in this endeavor, a significant boost to local employment!
More Trucks, More Jobs
The investment aims to increase Ford’s production capacity by up to 100,000 trucks across its plants in Kentucky, Ohio, and Canada.
Already, the Ohio Assembly Plant and Kentucky Truck Plant have produced over 200,000 Super Duty trucks in the first half of 2024 alone. This expansion is crucial to meet the high demand and ensure that the Super Duty line continues to be a vital tool for businesses and individuals alike.

A Shift in Strategy
This announcement comes on the heels of Ford CEO Jim Farley’s remarks about the company’s strategic pivot.
Farley indicated that Ford would focus more on smaller electric vehicles, a move seen as essential for the company’s future. Despite this, the Super Duty trucks remain a cornerstone of Ford’s portfolio, generating significant revenue and maintaining strong demand.

Economic Impact and Future Prospects
Ford’s electric vehicle division, “Model e,” may have faced a $4.7 billion loss in 2023, but the Super Duty trucks, part of the Ford Pro division, have shown impressive results. The Ford Pro division recorded $7.2 billion in revenue in 2023, more than double the previous year’s figures.
This investment in Super Duty trucks not only secures jobs but also supports businesses, tradespeople, and first responders who rely on these robust vehicles.
Market Reactions
Following the announcement, Ford’s stock saw a nearly 2% increase in trading, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s direction. This move is seen as a significant step in stabilizing Ford’s financial future and providing much-needed security for American workers in a time of uncertainty.
In a period marked by factory closures and economic challenges, including John Deere’s decision to close plants and move jobs to Mexico, Ford’s $3 billion investment in Super Duty truck production is a bold bet on America’s industrial strength.
This initiative promises to safeguard jobs, support local economies, and meet the ever-growing demand for reliable, high-performance trucks.
