Fun Facts About the Minnesota State Fair
1. The First Fair!
The inaugural Minnesota State Fair took place in 1859.
2. A Really Big Far!
The fairgrounds cover an area of 322 acres.
3. So Many Baby Animals!
During the State Fair, nearly 200 baby animals, such as calves, lambs, and piglets, are born at the CHS Miracle of Birth Center.

There are about 300 food concessions on the fairgrounds offering close to 500 different food items.
5. What Happens to the Giant Pumpkin?
After the fair, giant pumpkins and other vegetables from the agriculture horticulture competition are composted.
