In a recent report conducted by Google Workspace, it was found that 82% of Gen Z professionals use AI to complete a wide range of job responsibilities. This includes common tasks like drafting emails, taking meeting notes, and organizing ideas.
The study also highlighted that 88% of these young workers find AI helps them overcome a phenomenon known as “task paralysis”—a feeling of being unable to start or complete tasks when the workload becomes too much. This reliance on AI tools allows Gen Z to keep up with the demands of a busy workday, making it easier to tackle projects without getting bogged down by stress.
AI’s Role in Shaping Gen Z’s Workday
The report, based on a survey of over 1,000 young professionals, found that AI is integral to how Gen Z handles their responsibilities. These workers are using AI not just for small tasks, but for more complex tasks as well.
By leveraging tools like ChatGPT, many have found new ways to enhance productivity. This includes renegotiating salaries and even using social media to land job opportunities. Gen Z’s ability to use AI creatively to solve problems and save time is reshaping the way they approach work.
The study also shows that both Gen Z and millennials are regularly using two or more AI tools each week, with 93% of Gen Z and 79% of millennials relying on AI for various aspects of their jobs.
Beyond simply making their work easier, AI also plays a crucial role in enhancing soft skills, such as communication, collaboration, and leadership—skills that are essential for success in today’s fast-paced business environment.

Yulie Kwon Kim, Vice President of Product at Google Workspace, commented on the growing role of AI in the workforce, saying, “The future of work is here—and it’s AI-powered.”
