Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota – Tired of long lines at customs after a long flight? Global Entry might be your solution. It’s a program that lets Americans zip through customs using an electronic kiosk, without the hassle of paperwork or waiting in line. Plus, you get TSA PreCheck, which means shorter security lines at the airport.
Global Entry costs $100 for five years, but some credit cards will cover the fee. To apply, create an account on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, fill out the application, and pay the fee. If your application is approved, you’ll have an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. The whole process can take anywhere from three weeks to six months.
Once you’re approved, you’ll get a Known Traveler Number to use when booking flights. At customs, just head to the Global Entry kiosk, scan your passport, verify your fingerprints, and you’re good to go. No more filling out those blue-and-white customs forms!
Global Entry kiosks are available at about 80 airports in the U.S. and abroad. Remember, if you’re traveling with someone who doesn’t have Global Entry, they can’t use the kiosks with you.
Global Entry lasts five years, and you can renew it one year before it expires. If you renew before your membership expires, you can keep using your benefits for 24 months after the expiration date.
So, if you’re a frequent traveler looking to save time and hassle, Global Entry might be worth considering!
