Make Google Great Again! This Hidden Feature Will Help Make Your Searches More Accurate

Tired of irrelevant Google search results? Learn how to activate a hidden setting to search for exact words and get more precise results. šŸŒ #News #Tech #Google #Education

ST. PAUL, MN – Sarah Martinez, a freelance writer from Minneapolis, relies heavily on Google for her work. But recently, sheā€™s found herself increasingly frustrated with the search engine.

ā€œIā€™d search for something really specific, like an article I remember reading about sustainable clothing brands, and instead, Iā€™d get results about fast fashion or just ads,ā€ Sarah explains. ā€œIt felt like Google was ignoring what I actually wanted.ā€

Like many, Sarah has noticed a growing trend of irrelevant search results cluttering her screen. This has made her job harder and her research more time-consuming.

“I just wanted the information I was looking for, but it was buried under all this noise,” she says. The problem isn’t just about inconvenienceā€”it’s about wasted time and energy.

What’s Going On

Google has revolutionized how we access information, making it possible to find answers to nearly any question within seconds. With its powerful algorithms, vast index of web pages, and easy-to-use interface, Google has become the go-to tool for everything from learning new skills to finding nearby restaurants.

It simplifies our lives by delivering relevant information, offering helpful tools like Google Maps, and integrating seamlessly with services like Gmail and Google Drive. Its ability to evolve with new technologies, like voice search and AI, ensures it remains at the forefront of innovation in search.

But lately, people are noticing that Googleā€™s search results arenā€™t as useful as they used to be. You might search for something specificā€”like a recipe for a particular type of cakeā€”and instead get results for unrelated baking tips or even articles about low-carb diets. These irrelevant results are becoming more common.

Part of the problem is that the search results are cluttered with AI-generated content and SEO-focused pages. While this is frustrating, there is a little-known setting that can help you find exactly what you’re looking for by forcing Google to focus on the exact terms you enter.

Why Search Results Are Becoming Less Relevant

Google often tries to be ā€œhelpfulā€ by showing results that include words similar to the ones you search for. For example, if you search for ā€œbooks for kids,ā€ it may also show results for ā€œchildrenā€™s books,ā€ which can be useful in some cases. But recently, these adjustments have become overly broad, leading to searches going off-track.

An older method of forcing Google to show only exact matches was to put words in quotes, but this doesnā€™t always work anymore.

How to Turn On Verbatim Search

Fortunately, Google still has a feature that can help you search more accurately. Itā€™s called Verbatim, and it forces the search engine to focus only on the exact terms you typed in, without trying to include synonyms or other similar words.

Hereā€™s how you can enable it:

Step 1.

Perform a search like you usually do.

Step 2.

On the results page, find the Tools button. On desktop, it’s on the far right side of the screen. On mobile, youā€™ll need to swipe through the options under the search bar to find Search tools.

Step 3.

After clicking Tools, youā€™ll see a drop-down menu labeled All results. Select Verbatim from the list.

With Verbatim, Google will search only for the exact words you entered. While this wonā€™t guarantee high-quality results, it will give you a more focused list of pages that better match your search.

For Sarah, this feature has been a game changer. ā€œOnce I found out about Verbatim, it was like a breath of fresh air. I finally felt like I had control over my searches again,ā€ she shares.

Finding a Better Way Forward

Now, Sarah incorporates the Verbatim search option regularly in her work. ā€œItā€™s not perfect, but at least Iā€™m not wasting time scrolling through results that have nothing to do with what Iā€™m looking for,ā€ she says. Although she still faces the occasional frustration with Google, the Verbatim setting has brought her some much-needed relief in her research.

As more people like Sarah discover this hidden feature, they may find that navigating the crowded digital landscape becomes a bit easierā€”one search at a time.
