NASHVILLE, TN – A dangerous threat against an elected official has sent shockwaves through Nashville. A man now faces charges after allegedly plotting to lynch Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk. The threat followed the arrest of a fellow member of a notorious hate group, known for its disturbing anti-Semitic activities.
This alarming incident unfolded after a July 14 confrontation downtown, involving the “Goyim Defense League” (GDL), an extremist group whose very presence strikes fear in communities across the country. The group’s hateful symbols and violent actions show that theyāre capable of almost anything.
During the protest, 19-year-old Deago Buck, a young employee at a local bar, was brutally assaulted by GDL member Ryan Scott McCann from Canada. Witnesses watched in horror as McCann viciously beat Buck with a flagpole, topped with a chilling symbol of hateāthe swastika. But the violence didnāt end there.
The Terrifying Threats That Followed
After McCannās arrest, the situation escalated in a way no one could have expected. David Aaron Bloyed, a 59-year-old Texan connected to the GDL, took to social media to send out violent threats that should unsettle anyone reading this. He posted images targeting DA Funk, with captions like āGetting the ropeā and dark, terrifying imagery of a person hanging by the neck.
The message? Chillingly clear: āThe āRope Listā grew by a few more Nashville jews today,ā and the sinister warning, āWill you survive the day of the rope?ā
These horrifying posts weren’t just empty threats. Authorities traced more social media accounts linked to Bloyed, each one echoing the same terrifying promises of violence. These threats serve as a stark reminder that dangerous individuals lurk behind screens, waiting for their moment.
Officials React to the Threats
āIn a functioning democracy, we simply cannot tolerate threats of violence against elected officials,ā said U.S. Attorney Henry C. Leventis.
But can we feel truly safe when such hatred and extremism bubble beneath the surface? This is just the latest example of public servants being targeted for doing their jobsāat a time when threats of violence seem to be everywhere.
Leventis added, āThe charges announced today are just the latest illustration of the Departmentās commitment to protecting public servants and upholding the rule of law.ā
As Bloyed awaits trial, the potential consequences loom largeāif convicted, he could face up to five years in federal prison. But is that enough to stop others emboldened by the darkness that hate groups like the GDL spread? How many more of these extremists are out there, waiting to act? Will anyone be safe from their threats?

DA Funk has been the accessory in several murders himself setting low bonds for “people” who committed crimes after their release.
