Frederick Pabst, a beer baron, built this grand home with the help of architects George Bowman Ferry and Alfred Charles Clas. When the family moved in in 1892, it featured nine fully plumbed bathrooms and modern electrical and heating systems.

Sadly, Pabst passed away in 1904, and his wife died in 1906. The mansion was almost turned into a parking lot until a nonprofit saved it in 1978. Soon after, reports of strange phenomena began.

Guests have reported seeing a “portly smiling gentleman” resembling Charles Pfister overlooking the lobby. The hotel has also spooked professional athletes, with some insisting on sharing rooms after experiencing strange noises and inexplicable events. Despite these tales, longtime employees haven’t confirmed any ghostly encounters.

Lovely Salon and Spa

Address: 3724 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., St. Francis, WI

Formerly known as On the Right Track Roadhouse Cafe, this building has a history of hauntings. Patrons have reported Tupperware flying off shelves, cake batter crashing off tables, and coffee machines overflowing for no reason.

Shadows are often seen in the kitchen doorway, and the sounds of a party can sometimes be heard from the upstairs apartment, only to find the place empty upon inspection.

The building, believed to be from the 1860s, once served as a brothel until the 1950s. Paranormal investigators have recorded lewd conversations and references to topless women. A young girl claims to play with a man named Jack in the basement, using an old-fashioned vocabulary she’s never been taught.

Sabbatic, a punk-rock themed bar, has its share of ghostly encounters. Staff and patrons have heard footsteps from the empty second floor and seen an apparition of an old man. The bar, once a boarding house and brothel, maintains a sophisticated punk decor.

In 2010, a bartender saw a ghostly figure moving towards him without moving its legs, prompting him to leave the building in a hurry.
