Six Spooky Theaters in Minnesota

If you love a good scare, we’ve got the perfect places for you to visit. Here’s a list of six haunted theaters in Minnesota that’ll give you chills. 🎭👻

Now here’s the crazy thing: my hubby Jack and I have made our living as traveling musicians. For the past two decades we’ve performed thousands of shows throughout the Midwest…and we have actually performed at five of the six theaters in today’s article! I guess you could say we are experts in Minnesota travel. Hehe.

Haunted Theaters in Minnesota: Six Spooky Spots!

Alright, guys, as an expert on all things Minnesota and theater, I’m here to tell you these are the six most haunted venues in all of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. So… are you brave enough to see a show at one of these spooky haunts?

Mantorville Opera House: A Haunted Gem in a Storybook Village

Situated in southeastern Minnesota, Mantorville is a charming little town worth a day trip. It’s like stepping back in time! 🏠

The Mantorville Opera House, built in 1918, is no exception. We’ve performed here about a dozen times. This theater has a long, varied history: from speakeasy to silent movie house. But hold on, the real thrill is that it’s haunted by a bunch of ghosts, including Ellen, who likes to flicker the lights! 😱

Fitzgerald Theater: Where Ghosts and Radio Hosts Coexist

Next up, we have the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul. 🎙

Jack and I actually directed a feature length film about the Minneapolis Battle of Jug Bands and the movie includes an appearance by legendary Minnesota author Garrison Keillor which we filmed at the Fitzgerald… so we know just how haunting this place really is!

The Fitz is home to famous shows and two resident ghosts: Ben, a former stagehand, and Veronica, a former actress. Ben moves tools around while Veronica fills the air with her haunting voice. Some folks have even captured EVPs of them – creepy or science? You decide! 😲

Mounds Theater: Not for the Faint of Heart

St. Paul’s Mounds Theater has its share of spooky stories, from people being grabbed by invisible hands to a guy named Red who likes to throw things at women. Seriously, Red? Not cool! 🚫

Investigators have left the basement with actual claw marks. Visit if you dare, but maybe not alone. 😳

Chanhassen Dinner Theatre: Ghosts with Your Main Course?

In Chanhassen, we find a dinner theater with a tragic backstory. 🍽

Built on a burnt-down house’s site, its ghosts are said to include the woman who perished in the fire and a former actor who met a grim end. Next time you’re enjoying dinner and a show, look out for some spectral additions to the cast! 👀👻

Palace Theatre: A Love Story Beyond Time

Next, it’s off to Luverne to the Palace Theatre, built by a couple named Herman and Maude back in 1915. ⏳

These two lovebirds are still said to be hanging around, messing with the lights and generally keeping people on their toes. So much for a relaxing night at the movies! 🍿👫

Pioneer Place on 5th: A True Ghostly Gathering Spot

Last but not least, we head to St. Cloud to Pioneer Place on 5th. 🎶

This place started as an Elks Lodge and is now a concert and theater venue. It’s also a buffet of paranormal activity. Expect flickering lights and moving objects. Ghostly fans seem to love this spot too! 🎸👻

Conclusion: Haunted Theaters in Minnesota

So there you have it! Whether it’s claw marks, flickering lights, or moving objects, these theaters promise a spine-tingling experience. Grab a ticket if you dare. 🎟💀

Happy haunting! 🌕👻
