Before emergency personnel could respond, an unknown driver jumped into action. Witnesses recall a man in an orange sweatshirt behind the wheel of a white pickup truck. This Good Samaritan used his vehicle to block oncoming cars, shielding the injured firefighter from further harm. He then checked on the man’s condition and helped move him to a safer spot until backup arrived.
Fire officials credit this stranger’s quick thinking with preventing further injury—or worse.
Injuries and Investigation
Since the incident, the firefighter has undergone two major surgeries. His return to duty is still a long way off, but he’s focused on one thing: finding the man who helped save his life.
