OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Hickory Hollow Jerky has issued a recall for over 6,000 pounds of its ready-to-eat jerky products. The beef jerky and bacon jerky were shipped to retail locations here Oklahoma and in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and sold through internet sales.

The recall was announced by the U.S. Department of Agricultureā€™s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) after it was discovered that the products were produced without federal inspection.

The jerky in question was produced between January 19, 2024, and August 21, 2024, under two different owners. The company is based in Eufaula, Alabama. Although the establishment’s ownership changed on June 11, 2024, the product name and labels remained the same.

FSIS surveillance revealed that the company continued to use the USDA mark of inspection despite not undergoing federal inspection after voluntarily suspending inspection activities.

Uninspected Jerky Products Could Still Be in Homes

The recalled products bear establishment number ā€œEST. NO. 34550ā€ within the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS is concerned that some of the jerky may still be in consumers’ pantries.

While there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the products, the FSIS urges consumers to either throw away the jerky or return it to the place of purchase.

Consumers who have purchased the affected jerky should check the product label to confirm if it is part of the recall. FSIS is working to ensure that all affected products are removed from store shelves and will continue to monitor the situation through recall effectiveness checks.
