LOS ANGELES, CA – Tragedy strikes the streets of LA! A California man in his 60s, relying on a wheelchair to get around, was left severely injured after a hit-and-run driver mowed him down and fled the scene. Now, the Los Angeles Police Department is on a mission to track down the heartless driver responsible for the wreck.

Caught on Camera: SUV Strikes Victim and Speeds Away

Surveillance footage from January 11 captures the shocking moment an SUV plowed into the wheelchair user around 6:20 p.m.

The dark-colored vehicle was moving west on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when it struck the man as he crossed near Dalton Avenue.

The video shows that the victim was not in a marked crosswalk when the crash happened. But instead of stopping to help, the driver sped off, heading southbound on Harvard Boulevard.

Police say the driver should have remained at the scene and rendered aid, as required by law.

LAPD Offers $25,000 Reward for Information

Authorities are now calling on the public to help identify the suspect.

The City of Los Angeles’ Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund is offering up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest, conviction, or civil resolution in the case.
