MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Looks like this Home Improvement star needs to do some self-improvement. Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role on the hit sitcom, was arrested in South Carolina this week on a charge of second-degree domestic violence. The 43-year-old actor, who has faced legal troubles before, was booked into jail on Thursday after police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Myrtle Beach residence on January 1.
Arrest Details
Bryan was taken into custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County, where he remains incarcerated as of Friday. His bond was set at $10,000.
In his booking photo, Bryan showed visible injuries, including cuts and possible bruising on his face. The Myrtle Beach Police Department was the agency involved in his arrest.
Previous Legal Issues
This is Bryan’s third arrest in less than two years.
In February 2024, he was arrested for driving under the influence. His history of domestic violence charges dates back to 2020, when he was arrested in Eugene, Oregon, for assault and strangulation against his former girlfriend. He later pleaded guilty to reduced charges of assault and menacing.
Then, in July 2023, he was arrested again in Eugene for felony assault after violating an abuse prevention order.
Police Investigation and Next Steps
The Myrtle Beach police responded to a report of domestic violence at a local residence on New Year’s Day.
Bryan was found at the scene following an alleged physical altercation, though details about the other party involved remain unclear. The investigation is ongoing, and it is not yet known whether further charges will be filed.
