NEW ORLEANS, LA – Scrim, the little white Terrier from Louisiana with a talent for disappearing, has done it again. After vanishing for months following a daring second-story window jump, this legendary escape artist has finally been found—safe, sound, and as mischievous as ever. The runaway pup, who has now pulled off three great escapes, has become a local celebrity in New Orleans, with residents keeping an eye out for him as if he were a four-legged fugitive. His latest adventure took him on a wild journey across the city, dodging thunderstorms, holiday fireworks, and even a historic snowfall before he was finally caught by rescuers.
The Great Scrim Saga Continues
Scrim’s latest adventure began in November when he made a gravity-defying leap from a second-story window, giving his caretakers at Zeus’ Rescues a heart-stopping moment.
Instead of staying put, he embarked on an epic tour of the city, traveling from Uptown to Mid-City, getting lost in Old Metairie, vanishing, and then somehow reappearing in Harahan.
Christmas came and went, and Scrim was still out there, navigating the streets like a seasoned traveler.
For weeks, he braved loud noises that sent him bolting—New Year’s fireworks, Mardi Gras chaos, even the Super Bowl celebrations. He managed to outmaneuver countless rescue attempts, leaving trackers scratching their heads as he slipped through their grasp again and again.
Safe At Last—Again
After months of near-misses, a member of the nonprofit Trap Dat Cat finally managed to bring Scrim to safety.
A veterinary exam revealed that despite some unwelcome intestinal hitchhikers, Scrim was in surprisingly good health—especially considering the miles he had covered on his grand tour of New Orleans.
But this time, his days of running free may finally be behind him.
Zeus’ Rescues has lined up a new home for him—one with plenty of outdoor space and dog companions to keep him busy.
The hope is that a more structured environment (and maybe some extra-strong locks) will keep Scrim’s wandering paws in check.
A Dog with a Legendary Reputation
Scrim’s story isn’t just about one escape—it’s about resilience, determination, and a knack for adventure that has captured the hearts of New Orleans residents.
His previous getaways had already made him famous, with locals spotting him on security cameras, tracking his movements, and even setting up food stations in hopes of luring him to safety.
His past escapades haven’t been without injury. After one of his previous escapes, rescuers discovered he had been shot with what appeared to be pellet gun projectiles and had suffered multiple abrasions, even losing part of an ear. Yet, Scrim refused to let anything slow him down.
From dodging hurricanes to surviving an unheard-of 10 inches of snow in New Orleans, this pup has proven time and again that he is no ordinary dog. Now, with a loving home waiting for him, the hope is that his days of dodging cars, streetcars, and well-meaning rescuers are officially over.
But knowing Scrim, no one is making any guarantees just yet.
