GLENDALE, AZ — Police officers in Glendale, Arizona, responded to an unexpected 911 call involving a large pigeon that had invaded a resident’s home. The Glendale Police Department has since shared a recording of the call and body-camera footage capturing the amusing pursuit that unfolded.
A Bird Intruder
The incident began when a local woman dialed 911 to report a sizable pigeon that had flown into her house.
She explained that the bird entered through a back door she had opened for her dog and was now perched on a second-story windowsill. The home’s open, two-story living area gave the pigeon plenty of space to stay out of reach, complicating her efforts to remove it.
Police Step In
Officers arrived at the scene, quickly assessing the situation.
The body-worn camera footage shows the pigeon settled high above, near a banister, in the spacious interior. Armed with a long-handled mop and a sheet, the officers devised a plan to guide the bird back toward the ground.
The Chase Ends
After some effort, the team successfully directed the pigeon out of the house through the front door. The video captures the lighthearted moment as the officers completed their unconventional task, bringing relief to the homeowner.
The Glendale Police Department later described the event as a “hilarious game of chase,” offering a glimpse into the unexpected calls officers sometimes handle.
