HOUSTON, TX – A popular Texas boba tea shop faced an unexpected disaster Tuesday morning when a vehicle barreled through its glass storefront and crashed into the service counter, forcing the popular spot to close temporarily. Splintered glass and debris covered the floor after the crash, leaving behind significant damage.
Incident Details
The crash took place at Boba Bird, a well-known tea shop located on Blackhawk Boulevard in southeast Houston. Surveillance footage shared by the business on Facebook captured the dramatic moment when the vehicle plowed through the front wall, shattering glass and slamming into the counter.
In the video, debris can be seen flying in all directions as the vehicle comes to a stop inside the shop. Despite the destruction, no employees were injured during the incident.
Temporary Closure and Community Support
In a Facebook post accompanying the surveillance video, Boba Bird expressed gratitude for the communityâs immediate support.
âWe are so glad that no employees were injured this morning and so thankful for the outpouring of love and support we’ve received from the community already,â the post read.
Due to the extent of the damage, the shop announced that it will remain closed for the foreseeable future while cleanup and repairs are underway.
The post further stated, âOur top priority is to rebuild to continue serving the best boba and hot chicken.â
Ownerâs Emotional Reaction
Peter Phan, the owner of Boba Bird described the destruction as devastating.
âItâs my little shop, and I always dreamed of making it,â Phan said. â100% heartbroken and I want to cry, but I canât cry.â
Despite his heartbreak, Phan remains focused on moving forward.
For now, Phan and his team will concentrate on repairing the damage and reopening the shop. Local customers have expressed their support, promising to return once the shop is back in business.
âI donât try to stress about things I canât control or fix,â he added. âAll we can do is move on from this.â
