FORT WORTH, TX – A massive fire sparked by an explosion tore through an electrical substation in Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday night, forcing nearby residents to evacuate and causing a temporary power outage. The fiery incident sent emergency crews scrambling as the flames spread rapidly. With power temporarily cut to the area, efforts to contain the blaze were underway as residents anxiously awaited updates.

Fire Response and Evacuation Efforts

The Fort Worth Fire Department responded to the scene just after 7 p.m., arriving at the substation located off Seventeen Lakes Boulevard and Henrietta Creek Road.

Firefighters quickly issued a public warning urging people to stay clear of the area to allow emergency vehicles access. Although no mandatory evacuations were ordered, nearby homes were approached with voluntary evacuation requests as a precautionary measure.

Craig Trojacek, public information officer for the fire department, stated that while firefighters were able to keep the situation under control, they were monitoring the fire closely, ensuring the safety of nearby residents.

Power Outage and Restoration Efforts

As the flames raged, Oncor crews worked to disconnect equipment at the substation to allow firefighters to battle the blaze safely. The power disruption affected several homes, with most customers having their electricity rerouted promptly. However, nearly 50 residents experienced a temporary loss of power, which was restored by around 9 p.m.

By late evening, Trojacek confirmed that the fire department had reached a “holding position,” meaning they were assessing whether to let the fire burn out on its own or take additional measures to suppress it.

Investigation Underway

While there was no immediate sign of foul play, authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Trojacek reassured the public that fire crews would remain on the scene, continuing to monitor the situation closely.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to determine whether the incident was accidental or linked to other factors.
