JACKSONVILLE, FL — A dangerous car chase ended in dramatic fashion just outside Jacksonville, Florida—as a teenage girl reported missing in Texas was found safe in the vehicle.
High-Speed Chase Leads to Unlikely Discovery
Deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office were on routine patrol when they spotted a vehicle connected to a missing persons case out of Texas. The car, parked at a shopping plaza in St. Johns, caught their attention—and when they moved in, the situation escalated fast.
Behind the wheel was 19-year-old Jesus Esteban Arellano, who refused to cooperate with law enforcement. He accelerated away from the scene, initiating a high-speed chase through the streets of northeast Florida.
Precision Maneuver Ends Pursuit
Authorities deployed a precision immobilization technique, also known as a PIT maneuver, to bring the fleeing vehicle to a halt. Once stopped, deputies swiftly moved in and detained Arellano.
He now faces multiple serious charges—including five outstanding warrants from Texas for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Florida authorities added further counts for fleeing law enforcement, giving a false identity, and driving without a license.
Teen Girl Found Safe in the Car
Inside the vehicle, deputies found the 16-year-old girl who had been reported missing in Texas. Though her name was not released, officials confirmed she was safely recovered and is now in proper care.
