MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Early Sunday morning, violence erupted at a downtown Minneapolis nightclub, leaving three people injured after a fight inside escalated to gunfire. The chaotic scene unfolded at Tantrum Nightclub, hosted weekly at Dulono’s Sports Bar on the 100 block of 4th Street North, according to police.
Gunfire Inside and Outside the Club
The Minneapolis Police Department reported that officers initially responded to a call about an individual with a gun just before 2 a.m. While approaching the scene, they heard gunfire coming from the nightclub. Inside, officers found one man who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC).
Shortly after, more shots were fired in a surface parking lot next to the club. Police arrested a driver in the area who was driving recklessly, recovering a firearm in the process.
Additional Victims Emerge
Police later discovered that two more victims, including a minor, had been dropped off at HCMC. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and investigators linked their wounds to the same incident.
According to law enforcement, the violence was sparked by a fight that broke out inside the nightclub, spilling into the surrounding area and escalating further.
Ongoing Issues in Minneapolis Nightlife
This shooting follows another incident earlier this month at the Vanquish Nightclub in downtown Minneapolis, where a man was seriously injured. MPD Chief Brian O’Hara has highlighted the strain these incidents place on police resources, saying, “These types of incidents are significant drains on police resources.”
As investigations into the Tantrum Nightclub shooting continue, concerns over safety in the city’s nightlife venues remain a pressing issue. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
