ENNIS, TX – A tragic head-on collision resulted in the death of Jennifer Elizabeth Watson, a 43-year-old woman from Ennis, Texas, on Saturday around 7 p.m. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Christopher Thomas Pink, a 28-year-old Moorhead resident, was driving a Toyota Tundra the wrong way on Highway 75 near Moorhead, Minnesota when he crashed into Watson’s Jeep Compass. Watson died at the scene of the accident.
Prosecutors in Clay County have charged Pink with one count of criminal vehicular homicide following the incident. Evidence presented in the case includes surveillance footage from a Buffalo Wild Wings in Moorhead, where Pink was seen drinking heavily less than an hour before the crash. Authorities also noted that Pink has a prior DWI conviction in Clay County from 2019, according to Minnesota court records.
Evidence of Impairment Before the Crash
Surveillance footage from Buffalo Wild Wings captured Pink seated at the bar, consuming alcohol and taking shots. The video shows him stumbling through the restaurant, dropping items, and struggling to hold his head up. A receipt found on Pink during a jail search, timestamped at 6:11 p.m., aligns with the footage. Seven minutes after leaving the restaurant and driving through the parking lot, the deadly collision occurred.
At the crash site, a bystander informed a trooper that Pink exited his truck appearing intoxicated and was acting disruptive. When questioned by a trooper about alcohol consumption, Pink claimed he had none. However, the trooper noted slurred speech, and Pink refused to participate in field sobriety tests or provide a breath sample.
A search warrant was later obtained for a blood sample, though Pink resisted, arguing with officers and refusing to sign or initial the blood test tubes.
Tragic Loss Extends Beyond Driver
The crash claimed more than one life. Inside Watson’s Jeep Compass, responders found a motionless dog. Efforts were made to transport the animal to a Fargo animal hospital, but it passed away before arrival. The incident has left a profound impact, with Watson pronounced dead at the scene and her pet unable to be saved.
Pink’s actions leading up to the crash, combined with his prior DWI history, have led to the current criminal vehicular homicide charge. The investigation continues as authorities process evidence, including the blood sample obtained through the warrant.
A Moment for Reflection

We pause to honor Jennifer Elizabeth Watson and her beloved dog, whose lives were tragically cut short, and extend our deepest sympathies to their family and friends grappling with this devastating loss. The Ennis and Moorhead communities stand together in mourning, united in their resolve to support one another through this painful time. May we find strength in shared compassion and a renewed commitment to safer roads, offering hope that such tragedies can be prevented in the future. – Jack and Kitty Norton, Founders and Editors
