The Carmel Police Department received reports of the incident near Washington Road. Officers Lash and Palmiero were first on the scene, quickly assessing the situation. Without hesitation, they entered the frigid water to extract the driver. Shortly after, personnel from the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department’s Dive Team, and EMS units arrived to assist.
According to officials, the woman was unharmed during the ordeal but was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation as a precaution.
