SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Police officers in Saratoga Springs, New York, teamed up to save a horse that had fallen through the ice of a frozen pond. The dramatic rescue unfolded after a 911 call came in at around 3:45 p.m. on Monday, alerting authorities to the animal’s plight.
Officer Kyle Clinton was the first to reach the scene, where he found the horse struggling in the partially frozen pond, surrounded by broken chunks of ice. Without hesitation, Clinton joined the horse’s owner in an effort to free the animal, using a rope to pull it toward safety. Soon after, Officers Kris Camarro and Dominic Martuscello arrived to lend their support.
Teamwork in Action
Body-worn camera footage captured the horse thrashing in distress as the officers worked together. The team devised a plan to slide the horse onto its side while tugging on the rope, aiming to guide it out of the icy water. After a coordinated effort, their persistence paid off—the horse was pulled free and reached solid ground.
Once safely out of the pond, the horse stood up and was walked to a nearby barn, where it received veterinary attention. The successful rescue showcased the officers’ strength and determination in a challenging situation.
