MUNCIE, IN – A chaotic scene unfolded in a Muncie, Indiana Walmart parking lot when a woman, enraged over past relationships, confronted another mother, insulted her infant, and hurled the child’s carrier into a shopping cart. The suspect, 36-year-old Shamesha Hendrix, now faces legal trouble for this incident and a separate assault tied to her exes’ romantic ties. Police reports detail a pattern of aggression that has left two women battered and authorities scrambling to respond.
Walmart Parking Lot Chaos Unfolds
On January 17, Hendrix crossed paths with a fellow mother in a Walmart parking lot, a meeting fueled by tension over a mutual ex-partner who fathered children with both women.
The victim was pushing a cart with her baby secured in a carrier when Hendrix approached. After a heated exchange, Hendrix grabbed the carrier, lifted it, and tossed it back into the cart as the mother tried to intervene. The infant landed sideways but remained strapped in, avoiding serious injury.
Emergency responders arrived to assess the child, who seemed unharmed, though the mother declined hospital transport.
Hendrix fled before police could apprehend her, only to be arrested weeks later on February 15 for a preliminary felony charge of battery on a minor under 14.
Another Attack at Family Dollar
Months earlier, in October 2024, Hendrix allegedly struck again, this time at a Family Dollar store in Muncie.
Encountering another woman linked to a different ex, Hendrix confronted her inside the shop. The situation escalated quickly as Hendrix and her daughter ganged up on the victim, yanking her hair and chasing her out to the parking lot. There, the assault continued with the daughter slapping the woman and both attempting to drag her from her car.
When officers arrived, they found the victim shaken, pulling clumps of loosened hair from her scalp. This incident led to a misdemeanor charge of battery causing bodily injury, with formal charges now filed and the case still active.
Legal Consequences Mount
Court documents reveal Hendrix’s arrests stem from tangled romantic histories with men who moved on to relationships with her victims.
In the Walmart case, the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office is evaluating evidence to finalize charges, according to Prosecutor Eric Hoffman. The earlier Family Dollar episode has already progressed to formal charges, signaling a tough road ahead for Hendrix as she navigates dual criminal cases.
Both incidents paint a picture of unchecked confrontations erupting in public spaces, leaving bystanders and authorities to pick up the pieces.
