MORRISON COUNTY, MN – Morrison County officials are actively seeking suspects tied to a string of attempted ATM thefts, including a recent incident at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Pierz, Minnesota. The attempted theft took place late Monday night, with the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office receiving a report at approximately 11:15 p.m. Authorities say the suspects used a truck to rip the ATM from its foundation by attaching a chain to it, though they fled before managing to load the machine.
The truck involved in the crime was reported stolen from Fergus Falls. After the attempt, the suspects abandoned the truck, escaped into an SUV, and left the scene. Despite a thorough search by deputies, a K9 unit, and State Patrol, the individuals evaded capture that night.
Multiple Incidents Under Investigation
Law enforcement officials are also examining similar incidents reported within the past week in Crookston and Pelican Rapids.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office suspects the same group may be responsible for these crimes.
Details from the other events align with the Pierz attempt, prompting a coordinated effort to identify and apprehend those involved.
